A New Writing Platform: Wizzley (Getting to know a site from the inside out)

By

Watching a Writing Site Develop

If you are looking for a new shared platform to write on, you may want to try a new website called Wizzley. Wizzley just launched about two weeks ago, and because I knew the foundation members, I was allowed in to try it out before it was really open to the public.

As you may or may not know, I have been a member of both Squidoo and Hubpages since 2008, and have also developed some of my own blogs and websites over the last few years. So when I was approached to try out Wizzley, I was not sure if I wanted to do it.

However, Wizzley was being run by three people that I respected, ChefKeem, Ron Passfield, and Anne Corcino, who I originally know from Squidoo, but have worked with in other capacities especially over the last year. Knowing them as I do, I knew that if anyone could put together a site of this nature, they would be the ones to do it. They were partnering with two developers from Germany, Hans Braxmeier and Simon Stone who own PageWizz, a German version of the site.

Quickly Impressed

I was quickly impressed by the simplicity of Wizzley, as well as the site speed.  One of my biggest complaints over the years about Squidoo has been how slow it was, and one of the things I liked best about Hubpages was the simplicity.

But the biggest impression that was made on me, was the interaction with the technical developers Hans and Simon.  They are German, and their English is good, not perfect, but even with some minor communication issues, they were so responsive to suggestions and complaints, that I almost fell over in shock.

Customer Service is Supreme

I own a retail business, and I know that customer service is often lacking in every industry.  I already knew that Anne, and Achim (ChefKeem), and Ron were very customer service oriented.  But, as I said, I knew them.  However, when I met the developers of the site who would be responding to the real meat of the site's growth, and changes, who didn't know me from Adam, I was truly impressed.

I believe wholeheartedly in diversification.  Our recent experience with the Google Panda issues is a perfect example of why you should never place your income eggs all in one basket.  So I got to work, kicking the tires, and giving the site a workout.

Creating Articles is Fun!

Over the last several months, I have been quite annoyed with several places that I write on, because I have had to rewrite, move, and change many articles. These rewrites took a lot of time out of a schedule that is already busy, and I lost time doing what I prefer to do, sell and market.

In addition, I had missed out on the fun of writing. Wizzley has done a good job of bringing back the fun, and there are a few special circumstances that make it a great place for artists, and creative people.

Wizzley has modules (capsules) for Amazon, and is connected to Adsense like Hubpages.  Nothing too original there, but what they do have that is different is AllPosters and Zazzle modules that allow you to earn on your affiliate accounts with those vendors.  These really open up some opportunities for people who have accounts with those two vendors.

Wizzley Indexing So Far So Good

Only four hours after Wizzley was opened to the public eye, Google was already indexing pages.  in about 24 hours, I have already started to get some traffic from Google.  Wizzley is still in beta, and there are a few kinks to work out.  I have found a few German terms that were missed in the code translation.

But all in all, I am continually happy that I took the plunge, and decided to give it a try.

Join Wizzley

So in the end, there is really nothing to stop you from joining Wizzley to try out another platform to increase your earnings. This is a brand new, wide open platform that has lots of urls available, so why not give it a go?  For the last 9 days, I have been having loads of fun!

Great information. I just joined a couple of days ago and then found this hub. It is similar to but still very different from Hubpages. It's nice to have some new things to play around with and I like the fact that it's in its early stages.

I just joined Wizzley as I want some site where I can use my own Amazon ID now that the Anazon in HubPages would be part of the Ad Program. Looks like a great site to write on and I am hoping to write a 50 articles there before this new year.

Thanks for sharing Paula! I made an account and am writing a few articles there. I like the file download feature, and of course the zazzle and allposters feature. Any platform that offers different ways to earn money are great as all affiliate programs can generate.

I will keep it a source to write on. If they generate earnings and traffic I will be inclined to write more, but if I see no traffic well...the opposite will happen.

I agree with you not to put all our eggs in one basket. For that reason I had started writing on Squidoo and I have seen you there too.

I knew of Wizzley but didn't know much about it. Now, reading your hub, I feel I have a better impression of it.

I must say however, that HubPages has been doing a good job and introducing methods for improved performance, such as subdomains (which Squidoo is experimenting with now), and the addition of other programs to the HP Earnings Program (such as eBay and soon the AdSense Custom Javascript).

Thanks for sharing a clear and honest account of Wizzley. At least I know something about it now in case I decide to add another basket for my eggs.

Interesting. I am interested in sites with other vendors than the typical adsense and amazon. Perhaps I'll give it a go at some point.

@seanorjohn Yes, the referral program works almost the same way Hubpages' does. And I will say that I just had a $99 sale today from AllPosters. So far just a few hits on Adsense, but the site is still only a few weeks old. Very pleased so far, and the community is awesome. :)

Thanks for the info. I shall give it a go. Hope I can figure out how to use my google adsense account. Then I must try and become an affilliate of something like Amazon.Hope you get some benefit if I join through you.Voted up

@Money Glitch I have really been enjoying using the Wizzley site. The set up is similar to Hubpages, but there are several features that are new, and it loads super fast. Although it is not yet ranking as high as Squidoo or Hubpages, it is already getting Google traffic and the pages are indexing quickly. Great community there as well. Come on over and get your feet wet.

Hi, I went about this a little backwards, in that I found Wizzley on FB and then started looking to find out more about the site owners. I'm so glad I found your hub. :)

Thanks so much for providing such useful info. Watched one of the videos on the site and like what I saw. Needless to say, I too have grown tired of revamping the same articles over and over again. One health hub has been published and unpublished 4 times within the last month. Very time consuming and frustrating; so, I'm bookmarking this hub for future reference. Thanks again!

@Randy Godwin Well, I can guarantee that they will do their best to try to solve every problem, and answer the best they can. They are awesome!

I joined a few days ago and look forward to giving it a try! I like the idea of dealing with a site whose staff actually answer questions succinctly.

Awesome information, Paula. I've joined and I'm anxious to find a few minutes to write my first article. Like you, I joined because of who's in charge, definitely people I know and trust. Great to have your endorsement added, too.

@PWalker281 I think how many is really up to you. Some of it is how much control do you have and how much you can keep up with.

As to the revenue split, it is based on impressions like on Hubpages, 50-60%.

PWalker281 12 months ago

Thanks for this review, Paula. I will definitely keep Wizzley in mind as I start to put my online writing eggs in more than one basket :-) (have 2 baskets so far). Any recommendation on how many baskets one should have? I don't want to spread myself too thin.

Also what's the share of Adsense revenue that Wizzly writers receive?

Rated up/useful and bookmarked for future reference.

My first Wizzley page is ranking page 1 in SERPs for my key phrase/title. Wow-za! I just created it yesterday.

lakeerieartists 12 months ago

@waynet And you can even sell your Zazzle stuff on their and get the referral and the selling price. :)

waynet 12 months ago

Cheers Paula....I signed up through your link the other day from Facebook and as yet need to find a time window to write some stuff over there, but from what I've seen it looks very good!
