Bamboo Clothing

As we become wiser about our environment and how to sustain its ecology, we need to make better choices about how we live.  One of those choices is the clothing industry that we support by buying clothes that have a positive impact on the earth, leaving it in the same or better condition than before.

With that in mind, bamboo has come to the forefront as one of the best ecological choices to make clothing from.  It can be combined with other fibers, or made into cloth by itself, and is surprisingly comfortable and soft to the touch. 

Why bamboo?  Bamboo fabric is an excellent replacement for cotton, because the bamboo plant is very quick growing and does not usually require the use of pesticides and herbicides to thrive. As a result, plantations can easily be kept organic and replanted yearly to replenish stocks. Bamboo fabric is light and strong, has excellent wicking properties, and is to some extent antibacterial.

Ultimately, most people want their clothes to be comfortable, and bamboo clothes meet that need.  Bamboo is a soft or softer than the softest cotton clothing, and one of its unique properties is that it wicks away moisture from the skin because it is highly absorbent.  This quality allows bamboo clothing to keep the wearer cool and dry.

Bamboo fabrics can be machine washed, and machine dried.  That makes the bamboo clothing just as convenient as cotton or cotton blends.
