Cleveland Art Galleries: Lake Erie Artists Gallery
65Local Cleveland Art
Tucked away in a historic Shaker Square, nestled right at the intersection of Cleveland, Shaker Heights, and Cleveland Heights, you can find one of Cleveland's hidden treasures, Lake Erie Artists Gallery. Lake Erie Artists Gallery is a small art gallery that moved to Shaker Square in June 2009 from its original location in Tower City Center.
If you peek into the big front windows of the Cleveland art gallery, you will see a montage of unique handmade artwork including paintings, knitted hats, art made from recycled materials, functional pottery, hand painted glass, blown glass, lampwork beads, and a wide range of art jewelry.
The gallery is known for its wide variety of art gifts, perfect for any occasion whether it be a wedding, engagement, or birthday gift. Lake Erie Artists Gallery maintains a price range that can fit into any budget. Just tell owner, Paula Atwell, what price range you are looking for and she will help you find a gift to fit.
Lake Erie Artists Gallery was formed out of the desire to support local artists by selling their work in a setting in which customers would feel comfortable shopping. The atmosphere of the Cleveland art gallery makes you feel right at home. There is even a couch for anyone who would like to relax and sit for a while.
Showcasing Cleveland Artists
Lake Erie Artists Gallery specializes in showcasing Cleveland artists. Since the move to Shaker Square, the gallery has slowly been adapting to the neighborhood it is in, trying to fill the needs of customers who frequent the store.
One of the newer additions, is the offering of knit hats and fingerless gloves. Many of the Shaker Square neighborhood residents walk to work or take the RTA buses and trains, so hats, gloves and scarves are a necessity.
Another developing area of merchandise is the addition of loose beads, findings for jewelry making, and chains and cords. Lake Erie Artists Gallery also has a "Design a Necklace Studio" where you can build your own necklace from jewelry elements in the studio.
Jewelry Making Classes
One of the reasons that Lake Erie Artists Gallery made the move from Tower City to Shaker Square was to improve their attendance for classes.
The gallery has workshops for the beginning artist to the intermediate artist, mostly one session classes, meant to allow you to spend a few hours relaxing in a comfortable atmosphere, while creating something new for yourself or a gift.
Some of the most popular classes are Beginning Beading and Hammered Spiral Set. Each workshop teaches a different jewelry making technique and you can walk out with a finished project.
